I write in the early mornings, before moving the sheep, having breakfast with my wife and two children, tending to projects on our family land, or heading out to my paid work as a farmhand or a mentor. My stories explore how we might abandon the techno-industrial myth and make the holy, the home, and the soil the vessels of culture.
You can read more about my first book, On the Threshold of Worlds: Tending My Father Before and After His Last Breath, here. My other writing has appeared in Parabola Magazine, Front Porch Republic and on my Substack.

“I’m not sure I’ve broken into tears this many times reading any manuscript. Beautifully written, Orso take a subject rife with stereotypes and cuts across religion, economics, prejudices, and social norms to elevate our thoughts into the sublime.”
Joel Salatin, farmer and author
